INTRODUCTION TO SOFTWARE ENGINEERING PROGRAM

1. Overview of the curriculum

The software engineering curriculum was first designed in 2010, with 140 credits (version 1) for 4 academic years. Each year, the curriculum was updated the content and improved teaching and assessment methods. After the first students graduated in 2014, the curriculum was adjusted with the frame of 143 credits (version 2) and fom 2018, the curriculum applies the version 3 with 150 credits for 4 academic years.

- The educational philosophy of the curriculum

The curriculum always complies with the education philosophy of “Learning by Design”.

2. Objectives of the curriculum

The TDMU aims at training good engineers on information technology, who can identify, analyze, design, and solve problems in the field of information technology and relating fields. The TDMU also aims at participating in national and international activities to share knowledge, skills, as well as experience in software engineering as projects of mutual benefits.

The software engineering curriculum by TDMU provides learners with good capabilities on methods, techniques, and processes of software development, as well as the management of software projects, and so on.

The software engineering curriculum by TDMU is expected to contribute to highly technical manpower resources for the fourth industry revolution (FIR) in Vietnam, specially for the projects of digital transformation of enterprises.

3. Impressive points of the curriculum

+ The curriculum is designed and implemented according to the CDIO initiative, currently the program has being accredited according to the AUN-QA criteria.

+ The curriculum was referred to the advanced framework of the American Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Computer Association (ACM) (IS 2010), domestic as well as foreign universities, and surveys of labor market.

- Knowledge

+ Applying basic knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering relating software engineering.

+ Analyzing the problem, determining the calculation requirements, and proposing the appropriate solution to solve the problem.

+  Designing, implementing, and evaluating a system, process, and components of softwares.

- Skill

+ Promoting the ability of communication and teamwork.

+ Applying the skills of critical thinking, technical thinking, system thinking to solve problems.
